Lordrush throws a lot at you in the first few days: fortress upgrades, resource gathering, troop types, an alliance invite, a hero roster, and a currency you don't want to waste. Most of it can wait. This guide covers the handful of decisions that actually matter early, so you're not redoing work later.
Priority #1: Push Your Town Center
Your Town Center is the building that gates almost everything else — it caps how high you can level your other buildings, how many troops you can train, and what research and features unlock next. Whatever else you're tempted to build, keep Town Center upgrades running constantly. An idle Town Center queue is the single biggest way new players fall behind.
If you ever have a choice between finishing a Town Center upgrade or something else, finish the Town Center. Everything downstream of it is capped by its level.
That doesn't mean ignore everything else — it means Town Center goes first in the queue, and you fill idle time on other buildings around it, not the other way around.
Build a Balanced Economy
Resource production buildings (wood, ore, and food/gold equivalents) are what let you keep upgrading anything at all. New players often over-invest in military buildings early and then stall out because they can't afford the next round of upgrades. A rough rule that holds up across this entire genre of game: keep your resource buildings within a level or two of your Town Center, don't let them lag far behind.
Training Troops: Archer, Infantry, and Lancer
Lordrush splits its army into three troop types — Archer, Infantry, and Lancer — each trained at its own dedicated building. Early on, don't overthink the split:
- Train what your current buildings allow rather than waiting to "save up" for a specific type.
- Keep some of each type rather than going all-in on one — mixed compositions matter more once you start fighting other players, and it's easier to build a balanced army from the start than to fix a lopsided one later.
- Upgrading the troops you already have (through their star/upgrade system) is usually a better use of resources early on than training large quantities of low-tier troops you'll replace soon anyway.
Join an Alliance on Day One
There's no good reason to stay unaligned. Alliances provide help speeding up your own construction and research queues, gifts, shared tech, and access to alliance-only events and rewards — all things a solo player simply doesn't get. Look for an active alliance with players near your own progress level rather than the single biggest or most competitive one on the server; you'll get more actual help from an alliance that's paying attention to newer members.
Recruit Heroes Wisely
Lordrush has a growing roster of heroes across multiple rarities, and you'll pick up your first several just from playing through the early game and events. The mistake to avoid is spreading resources thin across every hero you own. Pick one or two heroes that fit your playstyle — or that you're consistently getting rewarded with copies of — and commit your upgrade materials to them instead of splitting evenly across your whole roster. A couple of well-invested heroes will outperform a wide roster of undeveloped ones.
Spend Gems Carefully
Your premium currency is the easiest resource to waste in the first week. A few habits that pay off:
- Don't instantly complete builds or research that will finish on their own in a reasonable amount of time — save instant-completes for things with genuinely long timers.
- Watch for hero recruitment or summon events before spending on random pulls — value is rarely constant, and events often stack extra value on top of the same spend.
- If you're unsure whether to spend now or wait, waiting rarely costs you anything meaningful this early — there's no early rush that outweighs saving up for a moment that actually matters.
None of this is about "not spending" — it's about not spending on the wrong thing at the wrong time. Free-to-play and paying players both benefit from the same prioritization.
Common Early Mistakes to Avoid
- Letting Town Center upgrades sit idle while other buildings run — always keep it queued.
- Overbuilding one troop type instead of keeping a mix of Archer, Infantry, and Lancer.
- Spreading hero investment too thin instead of committing to one or two heroes.
- Staying unaligned instead of joining an active alliance immediately.
- Spending gems on impulse instead of waiting for a moment where they clearly go further.
